UnrestingSea is a millennial travel blog sharing anecdotal & educationally-driven content woven from thoughtful travel experiences.
UnrestingSea – born from the last two words of the final stanza of Oliver Wendell Holmes’s Chambered Nautilus. This stanza is the source of inspiration behind name of the musings within these electronic pages.
My interpretation? The poem describes the shell’s perfect spiral, continuing to grow, evolve, and flourish. That’s my wish for my blog: to “build thee more stately mansions” as I continue to enlarge my world. Like the nautilus, I’m trying to grow – as a resident of the Earth. And likewise, I hope what I share inspires others to travel, to adventure, to discover, and most importantly, to grow.
Have I mentioned that I’m a sucker for symbolism?
Build thee more stately mansions, O my soul,As the swift seasons roll!Leave thy low-vaulted past!Let each new temple, nobler than the last,Shut thee from heaven with a dome more vast,Till thou at length art free,Leaving thine outgrown shell by life’s unresting sea!
